A Note From Ashana

Dearest friends,

In these crazy, challenging and often stressful times, we now have an incredible opportunity. We get to dig deep into our toolkits to help ourselves and each other remain relentlessly focused on thoughts of peace ... loving kindness ... gratitude and joy. We get to practice filling our minds with inspiring thoughts that lift our spirits and allow us to open to the infinite creative possibilities in each and every moment.

Being a musician, I know a lot about practicing. It means you set a clear intention to master a new skill or habit and you practice that new skill or habit over and over and over – I'm talking literally thousands and thousands of times - until you can do it without thinking, standing on your head, half asleep, or in front of 500 people without batting an eye. You build it into your muscle memory until it becomes totally automatic.
 
I don’t know about you, but I need all the help I can get to keep my mind focused on love instead of fear. I need to practice this all the time. And one of the easiest and most beautiful ways I know of doing this is to sing and chant songs and sounds and words that open my heart and keep me aligned with a loving consciousness.

My appreciation to webmaster extraordinaire, Cecilia Santos, who put everything together.

Last, but certainly not least, I'm very excited to share the good news about the worldwide release of "Beloved" through Spirit Voyage Music and digitally through Kosmic Music. Hooray!

Ashana shares very heart-felt and touching personal experiences in creating her magical music and her unfoldment as a musician. Ashana’s music is now featured on "Intuitive Living" for preludes, postludes and breaks for future shows.

Opening To Love – a simple 10 minute practice to open the heart

Here is a graceful meditation that you can do every day, or whenever you want to connect with the Love You Are. The first time I did this, I literally felt my heart break open as I gazed into my own eyes.

Find 10 minutes where you can sit quietly and undisturbed in front of a mirror where you can see your face, and if you like, one or two beautiful pictures of those you love or inspire you – a family member, friend, a beloved pet, a spiritual guide or teacher with whom you feel a connection.

Gently place your right hand over your left, on top of your heart. Look into the mirror, and gaze deeply into your own eyes. Begin chanting along with “Opening To Love.” Notice whatever feelings come up for you – boredom, joy, judgment, love, sadness, grief – whatever comes up, simply notice and allow it to be. Make no effort to change or correct what you are feeling. Allow yourself to be present and gently accept everything that comes up for you. Alternate between the photos and the mirror, whatever feels right to you in the moment. Imagine that your voice is coming from your heart. When the song is over, repeat, or sit quietly, allowing your mind to rest in the awareness of your heart center.

Ashana’s Heart to Heart Tour :
Celebrating the Love You Are

The Heart to Heart Tour 2009 kicks off in April with concerts and workshops in San Diego and Phoenix. In May, I'm off to Northern California, the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver Islands with world percussionist Marco Zonka. Then, it's Colorado and Utah in September and once again traveling to Japan in October and November, to perform with Japan’s premiere crystal bowl artist and my dear friend, Jun Makino. My intention behind the Heart to Heart Tour is to bring together community through healing music; music that lifts the spirit and affirms the love and divinity present in us all. Concerts and live events are highly interactive, with chanting, song and exquisite crystal bowl meditations. Spirit Voyage Music is now handling the worldwide distribution of Ashana's new CD, "Beloved", which is now available through all major distributors in the US and internationally in Europe, Australia and Canada.
